Naturalist Julie Covey will take participants on a 1.75 mile hike at peak season for wildflower and bird song observation. Prairie smoke and lady slipper orchids will brighten the trail edges as Prairie Warblers and Eastern Towhee serenade from the shrubbery. Julie will also enlighten hikers on the interesting geology of the alvar region including fossils visible in the limestone. Meet at Chaumont Barrens Preserve parking lot on Van Alstyne Road.
